The graphite on this marble mold is just over 5″ long. The graphite is tapped on the end so that the handle connection does not interfere with the use of the tool. This style of attaching the graphite creates a very strong and rigid connection. The stainless steel post that is in between the handle and the connection the the graphite is 2 1/2″ long. This stainless steel connection keeps heat from traveling to the aluminum handle.
